CHEMISTRY: Because Clary Sage consists of over 50% Esters, it is a calming and soothing essential oil. In general, the molecule family of ESTERS are sedative, antispasmodic, emotionally balancing and uplifting. Clary Sage is often used in skin care products because of it’s linalol/linalyl acetate synergy, similar to Lavender (angustifolia).
SAFETY: For external use only. Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) has a molecule that is estrogen-like in nature and should not be used regularly during pregnancy. Keep out of reach of children. Always dilute essential oils before applying to the skin and keep away from mucous membranes. If the oil is past it’s “use by” date or stored improperly, it may cause irritation and lose therapeutic value.
